Inspired by Larry McMurtry’s novel, Lonesome Dove Village is specially designed, built and furnished to recreate the western setting of early frontier days. Lonesome Dove Village includes the Red Dog Saloon, a Barber Shop, Post Office, General Store, Schoolhouse, Sheriff’s Office, Church, Victorian-style Hotel, Boot & Hat Shop, Saddle Shop, Wells Fargo Express Office and even a Jail. Most of these representations of the Old West are actually guest accommodations for the hunters and overnight guests who visit the ranch for reunions, weddings, corporate retreats and the like. This 4,300 acre high-fenced ranch, owned by Charles and Nancy Hundley is located 85 miles south of San Antonio and approximately 10 miles north of Tilden in McMullen County.
